Iowa: Support legislation that Requires schools/childcare facilities to inform on exemptions when discussing vaccinations
Our Stand: At-A-Glance
UPDATE! April 18, 2024
- UPDATE! Session will be wrapping up very soon and SF2196 exemption notification bill is one vote away from the governors desk. Please email Allsenators@legis.iowa.gov or just your senator and ask them to support SF2196 with the amendment.
- Informed Choice Iowa’s priority bill, SF2196, requires school districts and publicly funded childcare centers to disclose exemption information whenever vaccine requirement information is discussed.
- Talking points to form your email:
-
Proper disclosure of the current law will ensure parents are informed during the registration process and will have all of the facts of what paperwork they need for their child.
-
SF2196 will also help ensure children will not have to miss school if parents know ahead of time what their options are and it will simplify the amount of paperwork/provisional exemptions nurses have to process.
-
“No shots no school” is not only not true but it is misleading the public about Iowa law and is medical coercion by the school districts/childcare centers.
