Ban Weather Modification and Protect Air Rights in the State of Florida.
Our Stand: At-A-Glance
- Citizens of Florida have never given the federal government, state, or any other entity our permission to fill our skies, air, water, land, or lungs with weatherization chemicals or any other pollutants.
- This bill bans the the injection, release, or dispersion of a chemical, substance, or an apparatus into the atmosphere within the borders of this state for the express purpose of affecting the temperature, the weather, or the intensity of sunlight
- These practices endanger human health and safety and the environment; threaten air, water, soil, and wildlife resources; disrupt agricultural operations; and potentially interfere with aviation, state security, and the economy of the Commonwealth.
- Senator Garcia filed SB 56 to make it a crime for any entity, including all levels of government and corporations, to engage in atmospheric polluting in Florida.
- ACTION: Join us in supporting SB56, by writing to your Senator and asking them to support this very timely and important bill.
- While Florida’s legislative session officially starts on March 4th, lawmakers begin committee hearings beforehand to review bills, hold discussions, and determine which proposals should advance once the session begins. This pre-session committee process is crucial because:
- It allows legislators to vet bills early, making the session more efficient.
- It gives the public a chance to weigh in before the full legislature convenes.
- It helps prioritize which bills will be heard and voted on during the session.
- So even though the full session hasn’t started, these committee hearings are where a lot of the real work happens.
