Our Stand: At-A-Glance
- UPDATE! The VAX ACT is still moving and we need you to reach out to your House Delegate and ask them to vote NO on this bill. If we get mass action, we can stop this, please share with your friends.
- PROBLEM: The VAX ACT (SB 385 / HB 637) transfers control over MD vaccine policy towards so-called trusted health organizations with proven biases.
- The VAX ACT bills compel MD Department of Health to prioritize tying the recommended vaccine schedules and other recommended health measures to trade organization recommendations such as the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) and the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP).
- These trade organizations have proven to be biased towards protecting their health care provider members and their organizations (as they receive substantial pharmaceutical funding) versus protecting and improving the health of MD constituents.
- AAP recommendations ignore any evidential science that risks of severe harm and/or death from vaccination do exist and/or exceed the stated benefits. Many European Countries recommend a considerably lower number of vaccines and children of those countries are overall healthier than, unfortunately, our US or MD children.
- AAP and other trade organizations prioritize messaging to increase vaccination rates which substantially increases revenue to their providers and funders. Their messaging plays down risks, overstates benefits and presents misinformation as truth.
- This bill would empower the AAP, ACOG, AAFP to make recommendations contradicted by evidence, for example, that COVID vax for kids is protective and safe.
- ACTION: Call, email, and/or schedule meetings your House Delegate, today.
- Submit written and/or sign up for oral testimony on MyMGA to demonstrate that MD constituents do NOT support this bill.
- Forward this CTA to other Marylanders and urge them to do the same!
