Water should hydrate, not medicate
Our Stand: At-A-Glance
- Medicating people without their consent is not only unethical, it can constitute medical battery under Arizona law. Yet municipal water fluoridation does exactly that: it introduces a drug into the public water supply, exposing every resident regardless of their consent.
- When government places a substance (fluoride) intended to treat the body into the public water system, it removes the individual’s ability to accept or refuse that treatment. No other medical intervention is administered this way.
- SB1019 restores Informed Consent by prohibiting the fluoridation of municipal water systems and ensuring that no one is medicated without their knowledge or consent.
Do you know the source of your water’s fluoride?
- Sure, some Arizona communities have naturally occurring fluoride. But where do the ‘added’ compounds originate? Hydrofluorosilicic acid (HFS), the most common compound, often contaminated with lead and arsenic, is a byproduct of the phosphate fertilizer manufacturing process. It’s toxic waste now targeted to your faucet.
But what about our teeth?
- The incredible improvements in dental health since the 70’s arise from a number of changes. In addition to fluoridated water, we now have fluoride in our toothpaste and mouthwashes, oral hygiene has improved, and we’re eating more sensibly.
- Now we can make our own informed decisions and choose to fluoridate if it’s appropriate for our families.
Why not Fluoridate?
- Fluoride comes with risks like neurodevelopmental impairments that can lower IQ and result in behavioral changes, it acts as an endocrine disruptor, and recent studies indicate reproductive health concerns, including reduced testosterone levels.
Conclusion:
- Water should hydrate, not medicate.
- Public health should protect individual rights, not override them.
- Tell your legislators: Support SB1019 and end forced medication through Arizona’s water supply.
