GEORGIA: The vaccine passport ban needs your action to become law
SB1 will repeal the sunset clause and permanently prohibit vaccine passports for government entities.
Our Stand: At-A-Glance
- SB1 is a priority bill for Georgia Coalition for Vaccine Choice. It prohibits state and local government agencies from requiring proof of COVID vaccination. The current law has an expiration date of June 30, 2023. This bill will remove the expiration date and make the law permanent. We need mass action on this bill, to see it pass this legislative session.
- SB1 is the only thing preventing the Georgia Department of Public Health from requiring COVID vaccines for schoolchildren. Without this bill, our state colleges can require the vaccine, as well.
- The bill has landed in the House Public Health Committee. Please email key committee members to give this bill a hearing, before it's too late.
- After emailing, we are asking Georgia advocates to also call the House Rules Committee chair, Representative Richard Smith, at (404) 656-5141and urge him to bring SB1 to the house floor for a vote.
