Support a bill that removes CDC recommendations and brings local control back to Tennessee
Our Stand: At-A-Glance
Update! April 1, 2024
- UPDATE: The bill will be heard in the Senate Judiciary Monday April 2nd or 3rd @ 12:30 pm. If you haven’t done so already, contact the Senate Judiciary Committee.
- SB 2641 / HB2452 Removes from existing law the declaration that it is the responsibility of parents to ensure that their children are vaccinated according to CDC or AAP (American Academy of Pediatrics) guidelines, and replaces it with a recommendation that parents follow the guidance of the Tennessee Commissioner of Health and as advised by their trusted healthcare provider.
- ***The law that this bill amends (Tenn. Code Ann. § 37-10-401) is separate from daycare / school vaccination laws. Most people don’t even know this law exists. This bill is a big step in the right direction for getting Big Pharma-captured agencies and private organizations out of our laws and it acknowledges the parental right to make decisions based on the healthcare advice of a provider they trust.***
- Key points to support this bill:
- COVID-19 vaccines for children under age 12 are not licensed. They are still under Emergency Use Authorization (EUA).
- Yet the CDC and the AAP have annual Covid shots on their pediatric schedules beginning at age 6 months.
- CDC & AAP tell parents it’s okay for their children to get a COVID-19 shot with other vaccines – in the absence of any co-administration safety trials.
- There are hundreds of products in the vaccine development pipeline, including more mRNA vaccines.
- What will the CDC and AAP add next to their schedules?
- We the people of TN have lost all trust in CDC and AAP recommendations.
- We the people to do not want TN law to tell us we have to follow the CDC or AAP schedules.
- Public health immunization recommendations should come from the state level with oversight by the elected members of the General Assembly.
