FLORIDA: Ban weather modification and protect air rights by supporting HB477
Our Stand: At-A-Glance
UPDATE April 17th, 2025
- UPDATE: HB477, filed by Representative Steele, has been restored to at least ban weather modification. We will need to work to strengthen the bill on the floor, but we are headed in the right direction! Please send an email to your House Rep asking for their support on the bill.
- Original call-to-action below, so you can understand what the bill was all about.
- This bill is a companion bill to Senator Garcia’s SB56, in Florida you need both bills to pass in order to create law in the state.
- Citizens of Florida have never given the federal government, state, or any other entity our permission to fill our skies, air, water, land, or lungs with weatherization chemicals or any other pollutants.
- This bill bans the the injection, release, or dispersion of a chemical, substance, or an apparatus into the atmosphere within the borders of this state for the express purpose of affecting the temperature, the weather, or the intensity of sunlight.
- These practices endanger human health and safety and the environment; threaten air, water, soil, and wildlife resources; disrupt agricultural operations; and potentially interfere with aviation, state security, and the economy of the state.
- Representative Steele filed HB477 to make it a crime for any entity, including all levels of government and corporations, to engage in atmospheric polluting in Florida.
