GEORGIA: Click to oppose HB174, which fails to notify about exemption laws while talking to children about vaccines
Our Stand: At-A-Glance
- HB 174 requires the Georgia Department of Education to provide information on recommended immunizations to parents of 6th graders, while failing to notify parents of the availability of both religious and medical exemptions recognized by Georgia law.
- If parents are receiving notifications from the school regarding recommended vaccines, they should receive complete and accurate information – including the availability of exemptions recognized by Georgia law, as well as information on potential serious adverse events and the pharmaceutical industry’s blanket liability protection for injuries from vaccines.
- The question we are asking is why wouldn’t our public health agencies and legislators want us to have full and informed consent?
- If public health officials want to restore credibility, perhaps they should start by being honest about vaccines, vaccine risks and vaccine exemptions.
- Tell the House Public Health Committee and your Representative to oppose HB174, as full informed consent matters.
