Repeal Kentucky’s Fluoride Mandate in the House!
Allow local communities to make their own decision regarding water fluoridation
Our Stand: At-A-Glance
-
In Kentucky, state law mandates that artificial fluoride chemicals must be added to the water supply without the consent of our citizens. Because of this mandate, local communities in Kentucky have no ability to remove the artificial fluoride from their water as is being done in many other states.
-
HB16 repeals this mandate so that communities can make their own choices regarding artificial water fluoridation.
-
The bill would allow the governing body of your local water producer to make the decision. This means that you, as a local water customer, would have the ability to appeal to your water producer to change their practices. As it stands today, the hands of all Kentucky water companies are tied by state law.
-
This legislation has been introduced in Kentucky since 2018. Last year, this bill easily passed out of a House committee, but it did not advance for a vote from the entire House. Today, there is more momentum than ever for this bill to pass. With a federal judge ruling water fluoridation poses an “unreasonable risk” to children, and a constant stream of new studies pointing to the issues with fluoride, Kentucky must take action.
- The first step in getting toxic fluoridation chemicals out of Kentucky’s water is to pass HB16!
- ACTION #1: Form one points to your Representative in the house, please tell them to vote yes on this bill.
- ACTION #2: Form two points to the House Health Services Committee chair, Kimberly Moser, urging her to hear the bill.
