Utah: Protect state sovereignty and keep the WHO out
Our Stand: At-A-Glance
- Representative Lisa Shepard filed HB158 in Utah, which declares that international organizations (like the United Nations or the World Health Organization) have no legal power or authority in Utah—meaning they can’t make rules that apply to the state.
- If an international organization creates a rule, tax, or policy and claims it has legal power, Utah and its local governments are not allowed to enforce or follow it.
- If an international organization declares a state of emergency, Utah’s governor cannot declare a state of emergency because of it—meaning only Utah leaders can make those decisions, not outside groups.
- As a reminder, the WHO recommended policies in response to COVID-19 which were not informed by sound evidence, we must not allow this to happen again in our state.
- ACTION: Write your House Rep today and ask them to support this common sense bill.
