ACTION NEVADA: Douglas county citizens have a right to informed consent for the risks of EMF exposure emitted from equipment.
Our Stand: At-A-Glance
- The towns of Minden, Gardnerville and Genoa in rural Douglas County, Nevada have been the target of numerous attempts by Verizon to install new cellular towers in neighborhoods and business districts and in close proximity to schools and other places where children regularly congregate for extended periods.
- Recently, the county planning commission approved a tower proposed at fire station #6; directly across the street from an elementary school (300 students). In the same meeting they denied a tower at fire station #14; which is within one block of the high school (1600 students), county library, swim center and adjacent to a parking lot shared by a preschool and a popular children’s dance studio.
- Verizon is appealing the denial of Tower #14, while a local citizen activist group is appealing the approval of Tower #6. Members of the community are opposed to both towers.
- Please help Douglas County fight these cell towers! If erected, the members of our community will have been deprived of their right to informed consent for the risks from the EMF exposure emitted from the equipment.
- Please send an email to each of the county commissioners letting them know that we the people do not want to put our community and our children at risk of the potential harms from these towers.
