“Health freedom is the individual or their primary caregiver having control over health care decisions and the health care professional being free to practice their craft,” said Georgia State House Representative Sheri Gilligan. “The government, pharmaceutical companies and insurance companies should not interfere with the doctor-patient relationship.”

Sheri Smallwood Gilligan was raised in Forsyth County, where her family roots can be traced back 100 years. After graduating from the University of Georgia, Gilligan served in the United States Navy Reserves. Eventually, her career path led her to a position as an intelligence analyst for the CIA. After a successful career helping to protect the United States from threats, she returned home to teach at Lanier Tech.

“How many times have you heard some politician say “mandatory vaccinations?” Gilligan asked. “As it stands today, you cannot sue the makers of vaccines even if you are injured. … Refusing a medical procedure is a basic human right.”
