Senate Bill 135 protects the medical freedom rights of Kentuckians who are faced with vaccine mandates in various settings.
Under this legislation, students at public and private colleges and universities in Kentucky would have exemptions to vaccine mandates for medical contraindications, religious or conscientious beliefs, or the right to refuse a vaccination after being informed of the health risks.
Current exemptions for employees of long-term care facilities would be expanded to include all vaccines. Current exemptions for long-term care employees apply only to two specific vaccinations.
Exemptions to mandated vaccines would be established for employees of all health facilities for medical contraindications, religious or conscientious beliefs, or the right to refuse a vaccination after being informed of the health risks.
Finally, SB135 creates exemptions to mandatory vaccines for all employees for medical contraindications, religious or conscientious beliefs, or the right to refuse a vaccination after being informed of the health risks.
The bill also establishes recourse for individuals who are denied exemptions that would be established.
