Stand For Health Freedom survey regarding the Governor’s Public Health Commission
Our Stand: At-A-Glance
- Governor Holcomb’s Executive Order calling for the organization of a Governor’s Public Health Commission (GPHC) is an issue we have had on our radar this year.
- He tasked this Commission with studying the effects of COVID-19 on public health and how Indiana can make permanent public health changes to some of the COVID-era expansions of services and authority by the IDOH.
- Take a peek at Stand For Health Freedom’s 13-minute video summary of the final meeting of the GPHC where they discussed their legislative proposals for the 2023 legislative session. We believe this will be a helpful resource for you as you learn more about the GPHC, their 32 legislative recommendations, and the new requirements (including Local Health Maintenance Fund requirements) that will affect Local Health Departments in your county.
- Pay particular attention to the comments made by the Commission about how “brutal” it will be on counties who choose not to opt-in to the new IDOH program. This is not set in stone yet and your feedback on this topic could help improve the language so those LHM Fund dollars are not tied to this requirement.
- If you would like to look deeper into the GPHC recommendations, please start by looking through our short slideshow for a basic overview, and consider reviewing Stand for Health Freedom’s full analysis.
- We would love to hear your feedback to the GPHC proposal by answering a few questions in this survey. Once we have gathered responses from Local Health Departments (LHDs) and County Commissioners around the state, we will compile the data and share that with you and with legislators to help inspire meaningful change to the draft bill.
- Thank you for taking a few moments to help create a better law and better public health for all Hoosiers. If you have any further feedback or would like to schedule a time to speak individually, please reach out to Leah@standforhealthfreedom.com.
- All individual responses will be kept confidential. Only aggregate totals will be shared with lawmakers to influence legislation.
