GEORGIA: One click to protect informed consent
HB213 needs an amendment to include religious exemption availability.
Our Stand: At-A-Glance
- Georgia law already provides religious and medical exemptions for “required” vaccinations for school and day care.
- HB213, a bill that requires the Georgia Department of Education (DOE) to provide information on immunizations to parents of school children, allows the DOE to only partially disclose the Georgia law on immunizations.
- A common-sense amendment is needed to require the DOE to disclose the full state law, which includes information about medical and religious exemptions to vaccination.
- Please email key targets on the House Rules Committee and ask them to vote NO on HB213 or to amend it to require the Georgia DOE to state the full law on immunizations, including religious and medical exemptions.
